Eircom and Capita announce additional call centre contract

Eircom has signed a further call centre contract with The Capita Group Plc. The contract, the second signed with Capita this year, is for the provision of contact handling services for residential and business customers. The contract is worth approximately €35 million (c.£25 million) over 5 years.

Capita will take over responsibility for up to 200 call centre staff. Existing staff have the option to transfer to Capita, under TUPE, retaining their existing terms and conditions of employment.

Managing Director of eircom Retail, Cathal Magee, said: “This deal puts in place a new flexible operating model that will deliver tailored customer services for residential and business customers. Capita have been selected for their strong track record in providing cost effective call centre solutions across a number of industry sectors in the UK and Ireland. This is a good deal for transferring staff who will continue to do the same work and will open up new opportunities for them within Capita.”
