We provide Councils with the opportunity to use their bulk purchasing power and enable parents in the community to save money on personal accident insurance for their children.

Parents sometimes presume that a school will be held responsible for pupil accidents during school hours. However, as Council personnel know, this is only the case if the school is proven to have been negligent in its duties. In practice, negligence is proven in only a small number of cases.

The scheme is designed to be offered by the Council to parents on a voluntary basis. The Council's own administration is kept to a minimum, with BEST doing the majority of the work. Arrangements can be made to cover the cost of any Council administration if this is desirable.

A lump sum is paid for death or permanent disability without parents having to prove that anybody has been negligent. Any damages awarded by a court for proven negligence would be payable in addition.

For 24-hour, 365-day worldwide cover, parents can pay as little as £13.65 per annum inclusive of the 5% Insurance Premium Tax.
